Museum Celebrates Autism Awareness Month
On Saturday, April 15th from 10am -2pm, the Otter Tail County Museum will open up the doors with dedicated hours for folks on the Autism Spectrum, their friends and family. On Sensory Friendly Museum day, the galleries will be set at light and sound levels accessible for folks with sensory differences. A Museum Social Story is available on the museum’s website homepage if people would like to find out more about the museum before they visit. The website is located at www.otchs.org.
The current exhibit at the Otter Tail County Museum commemorates the 100th anniversary of US involvement in World War 1. Actual artifacts from the World War 1 era will be available for visitors to touch and explore on April 15th. Museum galleries, bathrooms and drinking fountains all meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards. A safe space will be available for visitors that day as well.
The Fergus Falls A-OK Autism Support Group is co-sponsoring the event, providing snacks and volunteers and covering the cost of admission. For more information about the Sensory Friendly Museum Day, please email mhermes@otchs.org.Museum Celebrates Autism Awareness Mo...Date and Time
